cheesy potatoes

This is a delicious, healthy and large dish, making it great to bring to a potluck or cook for a family dinner.

 

Ingredients

  • 5 garlic cloves divided
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter room temperature
  • 2 medium shallots quartered through root ends
  • 2½ cups heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon thyme leaves
  • 4 pounds potatoes scrubbed and thinly sliced
  • 3 ounces cheese (choice), finely grated
  • 1 ounce Parmesan

 

Instructions

Turn your oven up to 325 degrees fahrenheit. Use the cut up garlics to rub inside of the dish. Then do the same with the butter. Drop the cream, pepper, salt, thyme and the rest of the garlic and simmer it all within a saucepan on some low heat. After 15 minutes or a little less you will blend the ingredients after they have cooled.

Cut your potatoes up into slices if you have not already and layer them out evenly in your dish. Once you have completely covered the bottom of your dish you will pour your blended ingredients over the potatoes and tear foil equivalent in size to the dish to cover the top. Bake for 60 minutes or more.

Throw your choice of cheese onto the potatoes and some parmesan broil the dish until the cheese melts and bubbles, usually takes 8 minutes, more or less.
